Reading Other People’s Mail: Jude – Day 5

Reading Plan – Day 5

Jude 24-25

Jude’s ends his letter on a beautiful note of hope. Yes, there is resistance in our walk with Christ. Yes, there are people who reject the authority of God and deny Christ. Yes, sin is prevalent, and people will often promote sin to us. And yes, much of this happens in the church.

But there is One who is true. There is One who never lies. There is One who is able to keep us in His love and in His care. He is more powerful than the lies. He is greater than the human opponents we will face. He is greater than our sin and all sin. He is even greater than the devil who is in the world today. And because he is in us, he is able to keep us from falling (1 John 4:4 and Jude 24). This is why it’s so important for us to keep our eyes on Jesus. This is why we need to throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. This is why we need to run with perseverance (Hebrews 12:1-3). But we still need to remember that we run because he won the race for us. We are simply crossing the finish line. It’s by His Strength that we can do all things (Philippians 4:13).

Jesus is the one who is able to keep us from stumbling. He is the only one we can trust. And only he can present us without fault before God. And because he is worthy only he deserves glory, majesty, power, and authority.

Jude’s closing is a call to worship. It is a call to praise. It is a call to give ourselves wholly to the only one who is worthy.

What a beautiful way to end an intense little letter!

  1. JudeWhat does it do for you to know that God is able to keep you from stumbling?
  2. Imagine the day when God will present you without fault and with joy before him. What does it feel like to know that he is working on your behalf?
