There are only two books in the Bible that carry the names of women: Ruth and Esther. Ruth is a lovely story. Esther is a dark story. Ruth is gentle. Esther is intense. Esther is full of intrigue, twisted plots, power and powerlessness, potential genocide, and unlikely salvation. And the amazing thing—God is never mentioned. So how do we trust God, when he seems to be absent? Esther can help us with an answer.
